Introduction to the Knots and Rongolis:
As many know Celtic knot patterns have long been used in sacred literature and stonework throughout the British Isles and Northern Europe. A careful study or meditation on them will reveal their complex geometry and their hidden number symbolism. A strikingly similar group of knots and images can be found in the pre-mandala patterns of Southern India, which are called Rongolis. These latter are daily drawn in the courtyards and doorways by the women of the household and can be 10 feet across when finished. They too employ the mystical power of simple numbers to introduce a sacred element to their households.
